Eurozone Q2 GDP Revised Up to 0.6% as Employment Rises 0.1%
Euro-area GDP rose 0.6% q/q in Q2 2026, revising up the 0.4% flash, Eurostat said. Employment rose 0.1% to 176.4 million; Ireland led at +10.2%, with net exports +0.9 pp and inventories −0.5 pp.

Euro-area GDP rose 0.6% quarter on quarter in Q2 2026 and employment rose 0.1%, Eurostat said in its regular estimate (7 September 2026). The GDP print revises up the flash 0.4% q/q. Primary forecast on this pass was 0.4%. Primary consensus is also 0.4% against Actual 0.6%.
Year on year, euro-area GDP was 1.2% higher (flash 1.0%). EU GDP rose 0.7% q/q (flash 0.5%) and 1.4% y/y.
Ireland led; trade carried growth
Ireland recorded the largest q/q rise at +10.2%. Net exports contributed +0.9 percentage points to euro-area growth; changes in inventories subtracted 0.5 pp. Hours worked rose 0.1% q/q in both the euro area and the EU. Eurostat estimates 176.4 million people employed in the euro area (of 221.4 million in the EU). Final employment change 0.1% q/q matches Primary forecast and prior 0.1%.
Takaichi adviser Takuji Aida said the BoJ is likely to hike in September and keep a quarterly pace until January next year, then roughly every six months, Reuters stamps. Markets have nearly fully priced +25bp to 1.25% for the Sept 17–18 meeting.
Eurozone Sentix Investor Confidence improved significantly to 5.1 in September from 0.9 in August. Actual 5.1 versus forecast 2.1 and previous 0.9; sentiment turned positive in August after five negative months.
German industrial production fell 1.1% m/m sa/ca in July, Destatis said, missing a +0.1% consensus forecast. June was revised to 0.0% from provisional +0.2%. Autos fell 9.2% on a VDA multi-week pause.
