India’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU-IND) has issued AML non-compliance notices to 15 offshore crypto platforms accused of serving Indian customers without registering with FIU-IND. That is Wu Blockchain, with matching Finance Ministry framing via DD India.
The named platforms are Weex, Blofin, Rezorex, Bitunix, DigiFinex, Toobit, XT.com, Latoken, WOO X, Pionex, ChangeNow, SimpleSwap, FixedFloat, WhiteBIT, and Guardarian.
They may face further action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Section 13 and IT takedown
DD India stamps the notices under Section 13 of the PMLA. Separately, the FIU-IND Director — acting as nodal officer under the Information Technology Act — issued notices seeking takedown of applications and URLs that provide public access to those services in India.
Virtual digital asset service providers were brought under India’s AML/CFT framework via PMLA in March 2023. Obligations are activity-based and apply whether the entity is offshore or onshore, that ministry framing says.
