Binance Pay Hits Bhutan’s DK Bank QR Network. More Than 3,700 Merchants.

Binance said on Monday it had hooked Binance Pay into DK Bank’s domestic QR network in Bhutan. More than 3,700 merchants can take a scan of the code they already display. The customer enters Bhutanese ngultrum. Settlement is USDT.

This is a rail hook-up. It is not a new bitcoin buy and not a merchant hardware swap.

Existing codes. USDT on the back.

Open the Binance app, scan a DK Bank Domestic QR code, enter the amount in BTN, confirm. Automatic FX converts and settles in Tether. Travel, lodging, dining, and retail are the eligible uses where that code is accepted.

The May 2025 tourism rollout with Bhutan’s Department of Tourism and DK Bank started at more than 100 merchants. Monday’s print is the same rail, nationwide.

Term Print
Announced Monday, 17 August 2026
Merchants more than 3,700 on DK Bank Domestic QR
Prior tourism pilot more than 100 merchants, May 2025
Customer input BTN
Settlement USDT, automatic conversion
Promo no extra fees, through 31 December 2026

The announcement does not name the conversion-rate provider or the spread.

One official each side

SB Seker, Binance’s head of Asia-Pacific, said the hook-up “shows what real-world crypto adoption looks like when it’s built on infrastructure people already trust.” Ugyen Tenzin, DK Bank’s country CEO for Bhutan and Gelephu Mindfulness City, said the bank can add crypto “while maintaining the trusted payment infrastructure already in place.”

Seker also put the global book at more than 21 million merchants and said local-QR integrations moved $40 million in their first year. Those are Binance figures from the same release. They are the backdrop, not this note.

The next dated item is the fee promo’s close on 31 December. After that, the announcement does not print a new merchant target.

Bessent Presses Senate on CLARITY Ahead of Sept. 15 Cloture, Framing Crypto Market Structure as National Security

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urged the Senate to advance the CLARITY Act, warning that walking away would forfeit enhanced crypto national-security tools and signal the U.S. is ceding digital-asset leadership. The Sept. 15 vote is cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 3633 — it needs 60 votes and is not final passage. The tone shifts from July’s market-structure urgency to a national-security frame.
